Bulgaria’s authorities are going to demolish 750 illegal buildings in the country’s largest Black Sea resort Sunny Beach, announced Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

In his words, the buildings to be demolished are both “massive” and “temporary” or unfinished construction.

Tsvetanov made this announcement after meeting Thursday with the management of the Sunny Beach Jsc, with whom he discussed a number of issues plaguing the resort such as the noise, illegal cabs and rickshaws, pickpocketing, and prostitution.

The Interior Minister explained that the illegal buildings, which including many hotels, will be demolished after the end of the summer season in order not to disturb the tourists.

He explicitly states that the problem with the illegal construction will not be put off for 2011. The Sunny Beach resort has become known for the chaotic and spontaneous overdevelopment that it saw in the past few years.

Minister Tsvetanov believes that the resort, which has some 150 hotels, has a sufficient number of policemen. He promised legislative changes in order to tackle the problem with the noise.

What do you make of the Bulgarian Formula 1-gate involving the Abu Dhabi company EABG?
It demonstrates the total incompetence of the Bulgarian state administration.

It is a plot on part of certain people trying to extort money from the Abu Dhabi company.

It is a attempt to establish a Formula 1 facility with foreign money in order to serve the interests of certain circles in Bulgaria.

It is a genuine attempt to find a proper foreign investor for a Formula 1 facility in Bulgaria which ran into trouble because of misunderstandings.
